Just starting out your Pilates journey?

Here's what you need to know.

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a form of low-impact exercise that emphasizes the alignment of the body, core strength, and flexibility. It was developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century and focuses on controlled movements to improve posture, balance, and overall fitness. Pilates can be practiced on a mat or using specialized equipment, making it accessible for people of all fitness levels. It's often used for rehabilitation and injury prevention, as well as enhancing athletic performance.

What during class?

In both Mat and Reformer classes, you will be guided through a series of exercises from your instructor. The instructor will use verbal cues, demonstration and hands on adjustments to aid you and give you a better understanding of the movements during class. There may be use of props and weights to intensify certain exercises or sequences, but props are always optional.
